Bute and Mount Stuart

Arrived on Bute and parked at the south of the island for 2 nights. Walking round the southern tip of the island. Watched the New CalMac ferry Glen Sannox on final sea trials each day as it sailed round the island.

We then moved to a spot on the west of Bute on the beach for a couple of nights and then visited the amazing Mount Stuart house.

The Georgian architecture of the wings presents a striking contrast to the otherwise Victorian design, providing a completely unique architectural blend. Taking a moment to absorb the sheer beauty of the building is an unforgettable part of the Mount Stuart experience. Once inside, you'll experience the singular vision of an wealthy ancestral owner and his favoured architect, William Burges. Inside, design inspired by astrology, art and mythology dazzles. See a map of the stars on the ceiling of the Marble Hall. This house is filled with innovations – from an early telephone system, and indoor pool to a Victorian passenger lift.

Another night stop on a beach before heading for the ferry.
