Caves and Onda

This is one area we will return to, lots of walking to be had, a nice town and the amazing caves, A quiet boat ride along one of the most spectacular navigable underground rivers, including a trip to the musical theatre, an 800-metre boat ride and a 250-metre walk lasting 45 minutes, the cave has a constant temperature of 20ºC throughout the year. It represents the longest cavity in the province of Castellón and is the longest navigable underground river in Europe. Free parking with services and a friendly Tourist Info Office.

In the morning we left the caves and took the scenic route via the lower edge of the Sierra d’Espada to Onda. A very quiet and peaceful drive swapping places with a cyclist, he won on the down hills! Onda with its castle and narrow medieval zig zagging streets and it’s amazing historic church of the Assumption, but it’s more modern side is full of ceramic factories with huge lorries coming and going.
