Hungary and Serbia.
After a drive across Austria stopping for lunch using the non-motorway route. We enjoyed 24 hours in Sopron Hungary, visiting the town the first evening in the rain but the next morning it stayed dry long enough to see it in a better light. The main feature of the town is The Fire Tower, sadly, there were no tickets left for that day to climb the 200 steps! Some old buildings on an oval around the fire tower.
After lunch we made a move south to Heviz not far from Lake Balaton. We decided to have a couple of nights on a campsite, the thermal spa being across the road, we last visited this spa some 30 plus years ago!! We’ve had lots and lots of rain since arriving but managed a short cycle ride into Keszthley this morning before relaxing at the spa in the afternoon!
The first night in Serbia we stayed at Camping Pipacs at Fekitic just north of Novi Sad, in a cherry orchard, a bit rustic but at €10 a night including electric, very hot showers etc, what more could we ask.
Our second night in Serbia has brought us to Camping Plum, lovely site with friendly hosts and free Wi-Fi! On arrival we were treated to some snacks and homemade plum snaaps.
